На протяжении всей субботы «Львы» непрерывно атаковали и, если завтра не столкнутся с какими-нибудь неприятностями, в полном составе завершат гонку на подиуме. Такой финишный расклад до предела обострит борьбу в Кубке производителей, где позиции «Ситроен» отнюдь не являются столь незыблемыми, как у Себастьяна Лёба в чемпионате мира — уже по итогам Ралли Финляндии «Двойной шеврон» может уступить лидерство своим собратьям по «Пежо».

Утром «Пежо» стартовал в урезанном составе, когда третий номер команды Себастьян Линдхольм был вынужден сняться с гонки — сумасшедшие прыжки с трамплинов в пятницу все-таки аукнулись… Штурман Томи Туоминен жаловался на постоянные боли в спине, и после обследования в больнице врачи порекомендовали финскому экипажу прекратить дальнейшие выступления.

Первым удар нанес Лёб — эльзасец выиграл СУ10 и в очередной раз повис у Гронхольма на хвосте с всего лишь двухсекундным отставанием. Примерно такую же атаку предпринял Гардемайстер, которому хотелось во что бы ни стало спихнуть Мартина с третьего места. Кто по настоящему удивил, так это Петтер Сольберг, который не слишком уверенно стартовал и сразу же проиграл лидерам почти двадцать секунд. Кажется, вчерашняя авария оказалась слишком серьезной и команда не успела полностью устранить ее последствия — Петтеру постоянно не хватало скорости и он время от времени уступал даже своему напарнику Крису Аткинсону (вернувшемуся в ралли после вчерашнего вылета)…

Однако утренний рывок Лёба и Гардемайстера оказался лишь единичным успехом — оба экипажа «Пежо» наконец-то взялись за дело всерьез. Гронхольм в фантастическом темпе выиграл шесть спецучастков подряд, включая все четыре проезда на фрагментах «Оунинпохии» (после прошлогоднего Ралли Финляндии знаменитый спецучасток был разделен на две части, чтобы исключить самую быструю секцию и как-то снизить среднюю скорость). Мартин хоть и ни разу не показал лучшего результата, но постоянно финишировал в тройке, чего с лихвой хватило для того, чтобы наконец-то увеличить преимущество над Гардемайстером до двадцати секунд.

Лёб упирался до последнего, но его отставание от лидера медленно возрастало — Гронхольм все равно был заметно быстрее, хотя порой ему приходилось чуть снижать темп, чтобы рисковать и дать передышку больной спине своего штурмана. Петтер Сольберг по-прежнему не мог похвалиться высокими результатами — после обеда норвежец проигрывал Маркусу почти две минуты! А на пятки уже наступал Хирвонен, радуя Малкольма Уилсона, рискнувшего назначить Микко вторым номером команды.

Последняя секция испортила жизнь всем, кому только могла — за исключением обоих «львиных» экипажей. На самом длинном спецучастке «Мокси-Леусту» (40,96 км) Маркус выложился в полной мере — только Лёб сумел проиграть финну менее десяти секунд, однако суммарное отставание эльзасца составило уже ровно полминуты. А Гардемайстеру придется забыть о своих надеждах на подиум — прокол на «Мокси-Леусту» стоил Тони двух минут отставания и отбросил его на седьмое место…

Казалось бы, после таких стремительных разборок что еще могло произойти на коротком 13-километровом допе «Химос», завершавшем субботнюю программу? Но и здесь не обошлось без сюрпризов — разъяренный неудачей Гардемайстер выиграл спецучасток и уже завтра намерен отбить шестую позицию у Рованперы. Но вот ликвидировать в воскресенье на 66 километрах более чем минутное отставание от Микко Хирвонена и Петтера Сольберга — это уже надо сотворить настоящее чудо. Скорее уж, придется рассчитывать на чьи-либо проблемы.

Однако гораздо большей неожиданностью стали проблемы у Себастьяна Лёба — впервые за последние несколько месяцев! На последнем субботнем спецучастке эльзасец продырявил колесо, причем очень серьезно — потери времени составили более полуминуты! Конечно, с итоговым минутным отставанием от лидера Себастьяну уже не приходится рассчитывать на победу — интересы команды сейчас выходят на первый план, и соответственно меняется главная задача лидера «Ситроена». В воскресенье Лёбу придется поумерить свои амбиции и подумать о том, как сохранить свою нынешнюю позицию — у Маркко Мартина аппетит явно разгорелся и он не прочь поднять на вторую ступень подиуме.
