На трассе Спа-франкошам (Бельгия) финишировала главная гонка чемпионата FIA GT — «24 часа Спа». В гонке принял участие экипаж российской команды Russian Age Racing.

Алексей Васильев и Николай Фоменко в четвертый раз подряд стартовали в гонке «24 часа Спа», считающейся кульминацией сезона в международном чемпионате FIA GT. Команда Russian Age Racing, первый в истории чемпионата участник с российской лицензией, до гонки в Спа трижды финишировала в очках в этом сезоне, и пилоты очень надеялись на 24-часовой марафон, по результатам которого можно серьезно улучшить позиции в зачете FIA GT.

Партнерами россиян по экипажу на этот раз стали англичанин Джеми Кэмпбелл-Волтер и француз Николя Минассян. По результатам квалификации команда заняла 8 место в классе GT1, где были заявлены 15 участников. Всего же на старт гонки в Спа вышли 37 автомобилей. По стратегии команды со старта автомобиль Ferrari 550 с российским флагом должен был повести в бой Алексей Васильев.

Бельгийская трасса по традиции старалась создать препятствия пилотам в виде погодных условий. Гонка развивалась абсолютно непредсказуемо из-за переменчивой погоды: старт под дождем, стратегические успехи и провалы команд в выборе резины, быстрые круги на подсыхавшей трассе, и снова дождь! Немало автомобилей не смогло избежать вылетов и разворотов.
Первый час гонки стартовавший с 8 места Алексей Васильев показывал прекрасный темп в дождевых условиях и на подсыхавшей трассе, затем еще три часа безошибочное пилотирование его партнеров помогло команде закрепиться на 5 месте. Но, к сожалению, на 97-м круге Russian Age Racing сошла с дистанции из-за аварии.

Новичок команды английский гонщик Джеми Кэмпбелл-Волтер столкнулся в повороте Blanchimont с Porsche 996 класса GT2. Porsche, который должен был в повороте пропустить автомобиль более мощного класса на круг, неожиданно сместился влево в торможении, и таким образом спровоцировал столкновение с Ferrari, остававшейся на своей траектории. Автомобиль команды Russian Age Racing получил серьезные повреждения, и через час безуспешных попыток вернуть машину на трассу команда была вынуждена прекратить борьбу. Ferrari 550 команды Russian Age Racing находилась до аварии на 7 месте из более чем 30 автомобилей на трассе. К сожалению, столкновение прекратило путь команды к результативному финишу в Спа, и пилотам не хватило нескольких кругов до завоевания первых очков, которые получают экипажи, проехавшие 6-часовую отметку.

Гонку выиграл экипаж команды Vitaphone на Maserati MC12, Михаэль Бартельс, Тимо Шайдер и Эрик Ван Де Пол выжали из этой гонки максимум, заработав очки за лидерство на 6-часовой, 12-часовой и финишной отметках. Второе место на подиуме заняла Maserati команды JMB, третья позиция осталась за Ferrari 550 команды Larbre Competition.
